How long should I take the medication?

Obesity is a chronic condition that doesn’t arise suddenly, and it cannot be remedied with a brief course of medication. Consider the management of high blood pressure level and then maintain treatment to manage it. If they discontinue the medication, their blood pressure will rise again. Obesity management should follow a similar approach. FDA-approved medications like GLP-1 are typically intended for long-term use, beginning at a low dose and gradually increasing to a target or maximum tolerated dose. Once weight loss and health goals are achieved, treatment can be gradually reduced and stopped. However, numerous studies indicate that ongoing therapy is necessary to sustain weight loss. It is more ideal that clients who chooses the injections include with the Infinite30 lifestyle plan avoid staying on injections as a permanent solution. It is best to get the weight off and keep it off by learning a healthy lifestyle in the process.

The amount of weight people lose and the speed with which they lose it is highly variable. Every person has a unique history and health needs.

In clinical trials with semaglutide 2.4 mg (Wegovy), of the weight that participants lost, approximately a third of it was lean or muscle mass. Utilizing the Injections along with the infinite30 plan helps incorporate healthy eating with a focus on increasing muscle mass (lean) through optimal protein which typically decreases the risk of muscle loss. By improving muscle mass, people may also reduce the appearance of sagging skin associated with weight loss. In addition, the muscle protects the bones from injury from a fall or incident that can happen with older adults especially in the geriatric population. Muscle not only protects the bones and organs but an increase will raise your metabolic rate (the rate at which your body burns calories naturally).

Will I gain back all the weight if I stop taking them?

Many people have observed who they call the queen of dieting, Oprah. In the past she lost weight and then would put the weight back on. This effect is usually called weight cycling or yo-yo dieting. Since her injections, Oprah has lost a significant amount of weight as seen on TV.

The human body possess intricate hormonal and nerve reflex systems aimed at resisting famines and preventing starvation. These systems contribute to weight loss resistance, resulting in weight loss plateaus and facilitating weight gain. This phenomenon is termed metabolic adaptation to weight loss. It entails a complex interplay among fat cells, gut hormones, and specific brain centers that regulate appetite and calorie expenditure through physical activity. While addressing obesity, this protective mechanism can post challenges for individuals in sustaining weight loss without supplementary support or treatments. Ultimately learning what foods work best for your body that supports your endocrine system will aid in maintaining the weight loss. Utilizing the infinite30 plan with injections may lead to more of a sustainable weight loss. The goal is not to have to stay on the injections the rest of your life.

With the compound of the GLP-1 / Semiglutide and compounded with B6 we typically see a decrease in appetite along with cravings since the stomach empties more slowly with usually makes people much more satisfied. Clients have reported more control over their habitual eating.

To support a healthy weight and maintain weight loss, we recommend:

  • Avoiding saturated greasy fatty foods heavy in calories such as chips and french fries. Snacks like that can lead to a rise in insulin which can lead to more and more eating.
  • Increasing proteins will not only reduce muscle loss but is known to aid in weight loss. Lean proteins are ideal. Depending on your health conditions and food desires, we can work with you to establish what foods work best for your body. Everyone is different and unique.
  • Consuming fiber helps slow down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. Forms of fiber-rich foods are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. The fiber forms a gel-like substance “viscous fiber” in the digestive system, slows down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, including sugars and promotes a feeling of fullness along with more stable energy levels.
  • Moderate Physical activity is typically ideal to avoid increase in your stress hormone (we will explain at one of our seminars) but any movement to get the blood flowing in your body to help distribute nutrients and oxygen to your cells is always beneficial. Strength training does help increase or maintain muscle mass which helps raise that metabolic rate in which you burn calories naturally.
  • Implementing stress management techniques, mindfulness practices, and maintaining a healthy sleep routine can contribute to mental well-being and rejuvenation

Will I have to deal with medication side effects?

Every medication carries potential side effects. GLP-1 medications are typically well tolerated, with nausea being the most common side effect, and less frequently, constipation, vomiting, and diarrhea. To minimize these risks, the doctor will initiate patients on the lowest medication dose and incrementally adjust based on the their response. Furthermore, we offer dietary guidance to mitigate factors that may exacerbate nausea, such as rapid eating and consumption of high-fat foods.

As a side effect, losing a substantial amount of weight through various means, including medication, can result in loose skin. “Ozempic face” frequently discussed in the news, refers to sagging facial skin following treatment with a specific medication. However, this phenomenon is not exclusive to weight loss with GLP-1 agonists. Many individuals who experience significant weight loss especially in bariatric surgeries may encounter loose skin around the abdomen, arms, and legs. In some instances, insurance may cover the removal of excess skin, which can enhance quality of life and body contour.

As reported by CNN, some people who have used GLP-1s have reported “paralysis of the stomach,” known as gastroparesis. Utilizing GLP-1 have been known to help cravings, emotional eating, and satiety by the slowing effect on the process and breakdown of food but usually don’t cause severe symptoms. The effects of GLP-1 agonists on stomach emptying and associated symptoms vary depending on several factors. These include dosage, rate of dosage increase, underlying health conditions such as pre-existing diabetes-related gastroparesis, eating speed and dietary factors like fat meal content. Bloating, nausea, and occasionally vomiting may occur, and these symptoms can often be alleviated through dietary adjustments, medication dosage modifications, and, if necessary, anti-nausea medication. Individuals experiencing notable gastrointestinal side effects, including abdominal pain, should consult with their healthcare provider for evaluation.

Semaglutide FAQs

What is Semaglutide and how does it work to lose weight?

Semaglutide is a weight loss medication approved by the FDA which is classified as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists. GLP-1s are known for regulating insulin production but other benefits have been discovered. It helps curb hunger and slows the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine, helping you feel full faster and longer, so you eat less. Research has also found that taking this medication can help lower risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney disease. Patients have also reported improved blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

The Semaglutide prescribed by Dr. Sheth also contains vitamin B6 properties. B6 helps control appetite and hunger, particularly by stimulating thyroid function and, in turn, balancing hormones and water retention. B6 may help improve any side effects related to initial intake of Semaglutide.

When will I start to lose weight? Do I have to stay on Semaglutide to maintain my weight?

Everyone has a different journey. Some may see weight loss within the first week or two, others may see weight loss several weeks afterward. Typically clients lose weight gradually as the dosage slowly increases with clients needs and body response. Typically you see the most amount of weight loss when you are at your target dose. Each month, you will speak with the doctor directly who will determine proper dosing quantities. Options include, injectables semiglutide, oral medication, or B12 shots.

Studies have shown in phase 3 of trials, patient outcomes at 20 weeks reported the most weight loss while being at their full dose. The weight loss with Semaglutide was greatest in the first 6-12 months of treatment, and the amount of weight loss tended to decrease over time.

Using Semaglutide provided by Dr. Sheth in conjunction with the Infinite30 plan may help you reach the highest potential for weight loss and permanent results by new habits, new ways of eating, muscle mass monitoring with a focus on decreasing the body fat with minimal decrease in muscle (lean) mass. It’s important to learn the lifestyle change by eating I30’s recommend food list, increase your vitamins for a healthy gut and nutrient balance since you will more likely be decreasing your intake. When stopping Semaglutide, you should not gain the weight back if you continue to be conscious of what you are consuming with what you learn with Infinite30, mindset, discover root of emotional /habit eating, muscle mass tracking, coaching, and keep up with your daily activities.

What to be mindful of when taking Semaglutide:

  • Limit sugar, fast-digesting carbs, processed foods, fried food, carbonated and sugary drinks.
  • Limit alcohol consumption.

By consuming these, you may experience worsened side effects. Side effects include:

  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation

What is the cost and does insurance cover it?

Semaglutide is half the cost of name-brand medications. While it is not a name brand medication, insurance may or may not cover it.

If a patient’s Body Mass Index (BMI) is 40 or greater (or 35 or greater with type 2 diabetes) and the patient has commercial health insurance (ie. BC/BS, Aetna, CIgna, etc) then there is a possibility insurance will cover the injections. It may be in the patients best interest to determine if they qualify for insurance coverage prior to consulting with Dr. Sheth and will be responsible for independently submitting the claim to their insurance. If Semaglutide will not be covered under insurance, then the injection cost would be out of pocket at an affordable cost so most can take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to change your life.

How do I get started?

Depending on which plan you chose, we will either start you off with a full body scan (if local) to determine starting point, amount of estimated time depending on clients desired weight loss goal. After we establish goal, then we set up an appt directly with the doctor. A patient care consultant will answer all your questions and get you started. You have the option of coming in or doing everything remotely! Once you complete all the necessary requirements (such as lab work), you will be scheduled for a tele-health appointment if you choose the virtual option.
